What is Aggregation?
Aggregation is the process of bringing together different production, consumption, and storage assets and managing them as a single market participant. This enables small and medium-sized resources to participate in markets collectively and in a coordinated manner. It increases trading volume and flexibility in energy trading.
Who can join the aggregator group?
Licensed generation facilities with an installed electrical capacity of 100 MWe or less, and electricity storage units and/or facilities covered by the Regulation on Electricity Market Storage Activities, unlicensed electricity generation facilities connected to the distribution or transmission network that have fulfilled their ten-year purchase guarantee, and free consumers may join the aggregator group.
What is the installed power limit for participation in aggregation activities?
Market participants wishing to join the aggregator group must meet a minimum installed capacity requirement of 1 MW for each production facility. The total installed capacity of market participants to be included in the aggregator group is capped at 2000 MW. If this limit is exceeded, new participation will be suspended.
What happens if the aggregator group reaches the 2000 MW limit?
When the 2000 MW capacity limit is exceeded, the aggregator cannot accept new members.
In which markets are aggregation activities carried out in Europe?
It is widely used in developed energy markets in Europe, such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
